Nick Peine

Marcus Kasperak, "A.P. Bio"

Nick Peine plays Marcus Kasperak in the NBC comedy “A.P. Bio.”

Peine has been an underdog since he was an infant and born with Persistent Truncus Arteriosis, a congenital heart defect, as well as Chiari Type 1, a congenital spinal defect. By 15, he had undergone four open-heart surgeries and one spinal surgery to correct the defects. Undeterred, Peine began acting and performing stand-up comedy as a teenager. He attended Breck School in Golden Valley, Minn., where he starred in several plays and was also an all-conference golfer.

His stand-up career began to get legs while attending Boston University. At 19, while visiting Los Angeles, he was discovered while performing a pop-up set at the world famous Improv comedy club. Shortly after, he won Rooftop Comedy’s National College Comedy Competition, which earned him a trip to the Just for Laughs Festival in Chicago. Around the same time, the Huffington Post called him the “funniest college stand up in the country.”

After graduation, Peine moved to Los Angeles and began making small television appearances on series such as “Shameless” and “The Middle.” He went in to earn supporting roles in movies such as “The Circle,” alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, “Office Christmas Party,” with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, and “Just Getting Started,” opposite Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones.

Despite taking up permanent residence in Los Angeles, Weide remains a massive Wild fan, and watches every game from his home.
