Born February 16, 1987 in Armenia, Colombia, Mauricio Henao moved to New York City with his mother and two siblings at the age of 12. After high school, he began modeling for designers such as Nicolas Felizola, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Paul Joe Paris in the United States and Europe.
In March 2009, Henao moved to Miami to study acting with Roberto Huicochea, who also gave him voice coaching to neutralize his accent. He got his first opportunity after a little more than six months in the telenovela “¿Dónde está Elisa?” in which he was cast as Eduardo, Catherine Siachoque and Roberto Mateos’s son.
After attracting critical acclaim with his first role, Henao was invited back to Telemundo to play the young lead in “El fantasma de Elena,” followed soon after by “Mi corazón insiste.” He went on to star in a number of productions in Mexico, including the MTV Latin America series “Último año” and Televisa’s “La tempestad,” where he shared credits alongside Ximena Navarrete and William Levy.
Henao’s sixth project was “La impostora,” a Telemundo telenovela filmed in Mexico in which he co-starred. He returned to the network for seasons two and three of “Señora Acero,” and he is currently on set in Mexico filming the new season of the Super Series, which premiering on November 6.
