WNEU expands its New England news to Providence through WRIW Telemundo, resulting in Spanish-speaking viewers in the market receiving live news each weekday at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM

NEWTON, MA – (July 20, 2018) – Telemundo Boston / WNEU announced its weekday newscasts “Noticiero Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra” (Telemundo New England News) at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM will air on WRIW Telemundo on local channel 51 beginning today. Anchored by Grace Gomez at 5:00 PM, and José A. Rivera Adrovet at 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM “Noticiero Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra” will provide local breaking news, weather forecasts, sports and entertainment information to Spanish-speaking audiences in Providence through WRIW Telemundo. Providence area viewers with an over-the-air antenna are encouraged to rescan their televisions in order to receive WRIW programming, including the new newscast. “Noticiero Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra” will also air at the same time in Boston on WNEU and in Hartford on WRDM.

Earlier this year, the Telemundo Station Group and ZGS Communications, Inc. (ZGS) announced they entered into agreements that, once the necessary Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other governmental approvals are obtained, will result in the Telemundo Station Group acquiring stations owned by ZGS that serve 10 markets, including WRIW in Providence, RI. The Telemundo Station Group and ZGS closed on their transaction on WRIW and started its channel-sharing operation with WPXQ on July 20, 2018.
