TELEMUNDO 39 DALLAS-FORT WORTH AND TELEXITOS OVER-THE-AIR ANTENNA VIEWERS ARE DIRECTED TO RESCAN THEIR TV ON JUNE 20

FORT WORTH / DALLAS, TX – (May 17, 2019) - With Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXTX and TeleXitos preparing to move their local broadcast signal to a new frequency, viewers in North Texas using an over-the-air antenna are encouraged to rescan their televisions on or after Thursday, June 20, 2019 to continue receiving the station’s programming. Viewers will continue to find Telemundo 39 programming on channel 39 and TeleXitos on channel 39.2; however, they must rescan their televisions so it can be tuned to the correct frequency after this transition.

The change in frequencies will not impact viewers using cable, satellite or online digital platforms such as the Telemundo 39 mobile app, Roku, Sony PlayStation Vue any other streaming services that carry Telemundo 39 programming.

Viewers using an over-the-air antenna can take the following steps to rescan their television to the new frequency:

  • Press “menu” on their television remote
  • Click on either the “channel” or “antenna” option, depending on their television
  • Click on either “auto-tune” or “rescan,” depending on their television
  • Let the television automatically scan for the new frequency (this could take between 5 and 15 minutes)

“This quick process is covered in on-air instructions from our anchors, detailed information on our website, through the Federal Communications Commission hotline and our own rescan hotline,” said Tom Ehlmann, Telemundo 39 President and General Manager. “We want to make it as easy as possible for North Texans to receive our signal and be able to watch Telemundo’s much anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 and Copa America, along with other programming after the frequency switch on Thursday, June 20.”

Viewers can visit www.telemundo39.com/programar and watch a “rescan” video tutorial, read step-by-step instructions, browse frequently asked questions and get details about troubleshooting information. Viewers can also call the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) at 1-888-225-5322, contact the Telemundo 39 rescan hotline at 1-855-999-1518 or send an email to programar@telemundo.com with any questions. Through June 20, Telemundo 39 and TeleXitos will air public service announcements on broadcast and online to alert viewers to the impending change and the need to rescan their televisions on Thursday, June 20, or soon after to be able to receive Telemundo 39 and TeleXitos news, telenovelas and all other programming.

The rescan process and terminology may differ slightly by TV brand and/or model, as well as language settings. Referring to your TV manufacturer’s instruction manual and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hotline will also be helpful. Please visit FCC.gov for more information.

Telemundo 39 is one of several Dallas-Fort Worth television stations to transition its local broadcast signal during the week of June 17 to a new frequency, as part of a larger, nationwide effort by the FCC to reallocate the national frequency spectrum. This realigning of frequencies will provide a more efficient use of airwaves across the country.

Due to a staggered schedule of frequencies changes by Dallas-Fort Worth Stations during the week, viewers are encouraged to rescan their televisions several times.
