SAN JOSE, CA -- (May 13, 2020) – Recognizing the best in broadcast and electronic journalism across the country, the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awarded NBC BAY AREA four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for journalistic excellence.
These prestigious honors were awarded to NBC Bay Area for:
Excellence in Social Media: Recognizing NBC Bay Area for keeping its viewers informed and engaged across a wide array of news topics over multiple social media platforms. Content ranged from coverage of the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, to breaking news coverage of the Kincade wildfire that included data-driven maps, to an immersive tour of the Warriors new Chase Center, in addition to other hyperlocal digital original stories.
Multimedia: Recognizing NBC Bay Area for its commitment to producing engaging multimedia content through immersive storytelling that included: an Instagram/IGTV news show (Synced In), a new Silicon Valley business podcast (Sand Hill Road), a YouTube behind-the-story series (Hey Abbey), a digital-first investigation (Derailed), and our first fully-animated investigative explainer (on California’s high speed rail).
Best Podcast: Recognizing NBC Bay Area’s breakout Podcast, Sand Hill Road. This weekly podcast features interviews from the heart of Silicon Valley with the venture capitalists, start-ups, and innovators behind the trending technologies of tomorrow.
