NBC AND TELEMUNDO OWNED STATIONS IN TEXAS WIN 66 LONE STAR EMMY® AWARDS

NEW YORK, NY – (November 14, 2018) – The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS, Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXTX, Telemundo Houston / KTMD, Telemundo 60 San Antonio / KVDA, Telemundo 40 Rio Grande Valley / KTLM and Telemundo 48 El Paso / KTDO a total of 66 Lone Star Emmy® Awards during the 16th annual awards gala held on Saturday, November 10 in San Antonio, Texas.

Telemundo 39 won 23 awards including the awards for “Overall Excellence” and “Weather – News Weathercast” in recognition of the KXTX’s news team and weather authority team. NBC 5 won 12 awards across various categories including “Spot News” and “General Assignment Report – No Time Limit” for their Hurricane Harvey rescue coverage. Telemundo Houston took home 15 awards including the awards for “News Excellence” for “Telemundo Houston – Una Nueva Era en Noticias” and eight awards recognizing the efforts of KTMD’s consumer investigative team “Telemundo Houston Responde.” Telemundo 60 won three awards including “Newscast-Evening-Medium Markets” for KVDA’S coverage of the Sutherland Springs massacre. Telemundo 40 won 10 awards including an award for best morning, daytime and weekend newscasts in smaller markets and was recognized for its community service efforts in 2018. Telemundo 48 El Paso won three awards including "Feature News Report - Light Feature/Series” and “ riter-News” for KTDO’s special coverage that documented the rescue of five men trying to cross the U.S./Mexico border through the desert and the risks and decisions the El Paso Border Patrol agents take every day to keep everyone safe.
