NEW YORK, NY – October 17, 2019 – Offering an exclusive look inside the nation’s largest housing authority, NBC 4 New York/WNBC announced the launch of Question Authority, the first major podcast series to focus on the challenges surrounding the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Hosted by the NBC 4 New York I-Team’s Chris Glorioso, the six-episode podcast takes listeners on a deep dive into the troubled agency as told through the words of NYCHA residents.

Episode 1: A Big Scandal
A mom’s long and painful fight to get justice for her child suffering from lead poisoning. Tiesha Jones is granted a $57M payout, but children in NYCHA buildings are still showing heightened lead levels.

Episode 2: Inside the Walls
One woman’s walls are crumbling with mold, while upstairs a mom’s savings is depleted due to her son’s persistent asthma. NYCHA is hit with a class action lawsuit but is still behind on repairs.

Episode 3: The Fight Isn’t Over
Working parents and the elderly are without gas for more than three months, and it hits their pockets hard. Residents are fighting for compensation, but NYCHA doesn’t know if it can afford it.

Episode 4: It’s the Little Things
Bed bugs, roaches, broken doors and leaks. Families in NYCHA buildings are fighting for basic rights as tenants, while NYCHA admits its ticket system isn’t working.

Episode 5: RAD

The city is trying a new public/private partnership model for improving NYCHA housing: RAD. New York’s first RAD development is seeing results. But at what cost? Are current residents at risk of eviction?

Episode 6: The Interview
We delve into the history of NYCHA and find out why all the authority’s housing stock seems to be crumbling at the same time. New chair Gregory Russ answers the hard questions and offers his vision for the future.
