The Famous Colombian Singer Completes the Team of Coaches for the First Spanish Version of the Hit NBC Show, The Voice, Alongside Luis Fonsi, Alejandra Guzmán and Wisin.
MIAMI, September 13, 2018 – Music superstar Carlos Vives becomes the fourth star to join as Coach of the highly-anticipated singing competition La Voz, the Spanish-language version of the hit NBC show The Voice, coming for the first time to U.S. Hispanic television in early 2019. The singer, composer, producer and entrepreneur, will be joining the already announced Coaches Luis Fonsi, Alejandra Guzmán and Wisin, who will search for the most promising Spanish-speaking vocalists in the nation.
"I’m very proud to take part in the first season of “La Voz,” accompanied by great friends and colleagues," said Vives. "Together we will search for that unique voice that captivates audiences across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and I hope that great voice will be from Team Vives."
Carlos Vives is one of the most important figures in Latin music, who has positioned himself as a pioneer of the Colombian and Latin American sound. With more than 20 million records sold worldwide, Vives is the first Colombian artist have to have won a Grammy Award. The music star began his career as an actor in 1982, but it was until 1986 when he started to sing ballads. In 1991, he began performing classic vallenatos that made him the face of the new Colombian sound around the world. He received the Spirit of Hope Award in 2014 during Telemundo’s Billboard Latin Music Awards for his social work and dedication to philanthropic causes. In 2015, he received a Grammy for "Best Tropical Latin Album of the Year." Today, Vives holds a total of 14 Grammy Awards.
