MIAMI –MARCH 17, 2017- In an revealing interview with Noticias Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart, leading Mexican actress Kate del Castillo talked about the recent escape from prison of the son of the Mexican drug lord known as “el Azul,” her controversial relationship with Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán, her legal situation in Mexico, and her role in the new Netflix production “Ingobernable.” The interview airs in two parts: today on “Noticias Telemundo” at 6:30PM/5:30 C, and in its entirety on “Enfoque con José Díaz-Balart” this Sunday, March 19 at 2:30PM/1:30 C.
The following are excerpts from the conversation between Kate Del Castillo and José Díaz-Balart:
About the escape of “el Azul’s” son:
“El Azul’s son escaped? Did he leave him the tunnel or what? It’s ridiculous. It makes me so angry that we have all of this impunity in our country. We’re sick of it.”
About Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán:
“His lawyers and mine are in contact.”
“We talked about a lot of things at that dinner, including the men in suits. He knows everything. It wouldn’t have been possible for el Chapo to have gotten as far as he had without the help of the men in suits.”
About her legal situation:
“They closed one case, but two others are still open. I can’t risk going back to my country because the case still isn’t closed.”
“I still can’t believe it; I’ve never understood this type of witch hunt.”
“It’s terrible. I too left my country because I had no opportunities there.”
“It’s true; the character is a little like the Queen of the South and also Mexico’s First Lady.”
“It has absolutely nothing to do with the First Lady, even though it’s true that the actor looks like Peña Nieto. In Mexico we’ve had very bad people running our governments.”
