Hayes and his MSNBC team, along with the editors at NBC News THINK, launched the podcast “Why Is This Happening?” in May 2018. Since then, it has remained a Top 100 podcast (source: iTunes Charts) and quickly established itself as a “must listen” for political junkies and inquiring minds across the country. In November 2018, “Why Is This Happening?” presented its first live podcast event with special guest Ta-Nehisi Coates at a packed Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn. Hayes also sat down with Stacey Abrams to a sold-out Gramercy Theater in New York City in February 2019. “Why Is This Happening?” is MSNBC’s #1 original podcast and has more than 12 million downloads.
Additionally, MSNBC introduced back-to-back special summer Friday “All In with Chris Hayes,” in which Hayes hosted his Emmy Award-winning show in front of a live studio audience at 30 Rockefeller Plaza’s Studio 6A beginning on August 23. The last studio audience program for “All In” is this Friday, September 6 from 8 p.m. ET to 9 p.m. ET.
