First Regular Season Home Match to Air Live as Part of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises’ Landmark Deal with The Legendary Mexican Team
MIAMI – July 22, 2020 – Telemundo Deportes’ exclusive coverage of LigaMX’s Chivas de Guadalajara begins this weekend with the premiere home match in this year’s apertura tournament, Guard1anes 2020, versus Club León. The match will air live on Telemundo Saturday, July 25th at 7:55 pm ET / 4:55 pm PT, with coverage on the Telemundo Deportes App and pre and post-game coverage on Telemundo’s sister network, Universo.
The first regular season match after nearly four months since the cancellation of the 2020 Clausura due to Covid-19, Saturday’s match marks the beginning of a multi-year broadcast agreement which includes exclusive U.S. rights to all Chivas home games in Spanish and English across all Telemundo platforms. In addition to the men’s team, Telemundo Deportes also has the exclusive U.S. rights to the women’s club, Chivas Femenil, and their youth team Cantera Rojiblanca.
Game coverage will be led by five-time Emmy winner Andrés Cantor providing play-by-play commentary alongside the analysis of Mexican soccer star and Chivas de Guadalajara veteran, Manuel Sol. Also making an appearance to launch the partnership between Telemundo Deportes and Chivas de Guadalajara is Chivas TV’s resident commentator, Arantza Fernandez, who will serve as the match’s field reporter. Following the live match on Telemundo, viewers can re-live the excitement on NBCSN in English at 10 pm ET following NBC Sports’ NASCAR broadcast.Telemundo Deportes’ pre/post-game and halftime will be led by Emmy-award winning expert Miguel Gurwitz alongside the analysis of Mexican soccer legend Carlos Hermosillo, who spent the final year of his club career with Chivas de Guadalajara in 2001, and Titulares y Más anchor, Ana Jurka. As part of this coverage, guests can expect various player and team interviews including Ricardo Peláez, Chivas de Guadalajara’s Sporting Director and the team’s acting coach, Salvador Luis “Chava” Reyes, along with analysis from Chivas Femenil star, Women’s World Cup commentator and former Telemundo Exatlón contestant, Janelly Farías.
