NBC’s respected golf analyst Johnny Miller calls the U.S. Open, "the hardest championship to win and probably golf’s most prestigious prize. The courses are set up the toughest. The USGA tries to test not only your game, but also your will. The Open is unlike any other championship that way. It’s the ultimate gut test and test of your game. The fact that it’s our national championship just adds tremendous pressure."
NBC Sports' Emmy Award-winning golf production team presents live, 18-hole coverage of the event's third and fourth rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
NBC host Dan Hicks and Miller will be joined by tower reporters Gary Koch and Bob Murphy; on-course reporters Roger Maltbie, Mark Rolfing; and interviewer/essayist Jimmy Roberts. Bob Costas will contribute opening commentary and interview segments in addition to periodically re-setting the scene and handling the trophy presentation.
Each year, NBC Sports also provides coverage of the U.S. Senior Open Championship, the U.S. Women's Open Championship, and the U.S. Amateur Championship. In 2003 NBC aired the U.S. Girls Junior Championship, marking the first time the event was ever televised. In 2004, NBC aired the first-ever coverage of the U.S. Boys Junior Championship.
