Bob Costas interviewing Aly Raisman: “You come out of here with two gold medals and a bronze, sum up what this Olympics has meant to you.”
Aly Raisman: “This Olympics has meant everything to me. It’s been amazing and I wouldn’t have it go any other way. I tied for a third in the all-around and I ended up being in fourth, but to say that I’m the fourth best in the world in the all-around means so much to me. And I’ve dreamed of being an Olympic champion so I’m just really excited.”
Al Trautwig: “Wrapping up, Team USA on the women’s side takes five Olympic medals. London was a success.”
On Aly Raisman’s gold medal floor routine
Tim Daggett: “One more tumbling run and this could be gold medal greatness.”
Elfi Schlegel: “The best we’ve seen from Aly Raisman!”
Al Trautwig: “In the last event of women’s gymnastics, Aly rallies for Gold.”
Tim Daggett on Gabby Douglas not medaling on the beam: “She will not medal here as her mom looks on. But two gold medals, one of them being the crown jewel, the women’s all-around, not bad.”
TRACK & FIELD
Sally Pearson of Australia edged defending champion Dawn Harper of the U.S. to win the 100-meter hurdles in an Olympic-record 12.35 seconds
Ato Boldon: “Sally Pearson always starts well and she needed that start today because Dawn Harper closed her down in this Olympic final; the likes of which we have not seen in about a year. Dawn Harper was coming; she just ran out of room.”
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings will be contending for their third-straight Olympic title against fellow Americans Jen Kessy and April Ross.
Chris Marlowe on Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings making it to the Gold Medal final after being down 13-7 in the first set: “Never underestimate the heart of a champion. Misty and Kerri pull one out of the fire like they have done so many times in the past.”
