
Inspired by USA's iconic "Characters Welcome" brand, USA Network's 'Character' events support the network's national social and artistic initiatives, including:
Characters Unite -- the network's multi-platform pro-social initiative to combat prejudice and discrimination;
Character Project -- an ongoing artistic initiative committed to capturing the character of America; and
Character Approved Awards -- honoring the real characters who are changing the face of American culture.
2012 EVENTS:
Characters Unite National Storytelling Tour
In partnership with the renowned nonprofit The Moth, USA continues the Tour – "A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power" -- to use the power of storytelling to bring diverse people together, foster greater understanding and encourage respect.
Wednesday, February 15, at the Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles -- the tour will partner with Time Warner Cable for:
• Mainstage Showcase: Hosted by Tony, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning Nathan Lane with special guest Matt Bomer from USA’s "White Collar."
The showcase will feature five storytellers, including Academy-Award nominee Octavia Spencer and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, each sharing a true story of overcoming discrimination and how it impacted their identity and outlook. The event also will include a special performance by Grammy Award-winning artist John Legend.

In an effort to support USA's on-going Characters Unite pro-social initiative, USA Co-President Chris McCumber gathered more than two dozen representatives from the network's nonprofit partners and executive producers of "Royal Pains," Michael Rauch & Andrew Lenchewski, and "White Collar," Jeff Eastin and Mark Goffman, to discuss plans for the next phase of the Characters Unite pro-social campaign to combat prejudice and discrimination and promote tolerance and respect, including incorporating specially-themed storylines into the hit series.
