MIAMI – February 7, 2013 - Telemundo Media announced today the appointment of Jesús Torres Viera as Executive Vice President of Programming and Content. The network also appointed Daniel Cubillo to the newly created position of Vice President of Content Development, Non-Scripted, effective immediately. Torres Viera will report to Emilio Romano, President, Telemundo Media and Daniel Cubillo will report to Torres Viera. Both executives will be based in Miami.
In his new role, Torres Viera is responsible for developing and executing Telemundo network’s overall programming, content and scheduling strategy, as well as leading the content rollout strategy across all Telemundo Media and emerging media platforms. More specifically, he will oversee program planning and development, as well as the network’s promotional scheduling.
Cubillo is responsible for identifying and developing variety and non-scripted programming, including reality shows and specials for the network. He will be the principal point of contact to review new non-scripted programs and concept ideas and will oversee the green-light process for all original non-scripted programs. In addition to developing these non-scripted projects, Cubillo will also work in conjunction with Telemundo’s production teams, outside production teams and other network departments to ensure a successful development-to-launch process of all non-scripted programming.

Torres Viera joins Telemundo Media from Jtvmedia and Ploptv, where he served as Partner and Consultant since 2009. There, he was responsible for creating and developing products in television production, advertising, online content and social networks. He also oversaw the production of the popular late night show “Erika Tipo 11,” hosted by Erika De La Vega for Venevision Plus in Venezuela.
Prior to joining Jtvmedia and Ploptv, Torres Viera worked at Sony Entertainment Television from 1995-2009. He started at the company as Director of On-Air, where he oversaw promotions, on-air production and image of the channel and developed strategies in connection with programming and marketing. He was later promoted to Vice President of Operations, where he led the programming, acquisitions, promotions and production departments, as well as general operations of the channel. Torres Viera then became Vice President and General Manager, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the finance, programming, promotions, production, marketing and operations divisions for the Pan-regional Latin America networks. He expanded his Vice President and General Manager role to include AXN, a Sony Entertainment Television network based in Miami. His last post at Sony Entertainment Television was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sony Pictures Entertainment, which included oversight of SET, AXN and ANIMAX throughout the Pan-regional Latin America networks, including Brazil.
Torres Viera studied Mass Communications at the University of Caracas, Venezuela.
Previously, Cubillo served as Content Manager and Creative Director at Univision Studios. In this role, he was Executive Producer and Creative Director of reality programs including “Nuestra Belleza Latina” and “Mira Quien Baila,” among others. From 2009-2011, he was Content Manager, Head of Development and Executive Producer at MCM Magnum Contenidos Multimedia, where he Executive Produced the Spanish adaptations of shows as “The Buried Life,” “The Prettiest Girl in the Class” and “Battle of the Choirs.” From 2006 to 2009, Cubillo worked for Cuarzo Producciones (Banijay Group) as a Content Manager, managing the creative, sales and scripted/non- scripted departments, creating and producing shows for all Spanish-language broadcasters as “Herederos,” “Fuera de Lugar,” "Intuicion," among others scripted and non-scripted programs. In 2005, Cubillo served as Head of Contents at Fremantle Media, adapting pitching and selling shows such as “Jamie’s Kitchen,” “X-Factor” and “Distraction.”
During the 5 years he was part of the Content Team in Endemol Spain, adapting and producing several reality series such as “Big Brother,” “Fear Factor,” “Blind Faith” and others. Cubillo received a Master’s in Audiovisual Communication and Visual Arts and diplomas in Marketing and Advertising and Audiovisual Direction in Madrid and Zaragoza Universities.
