A true celebration of U.S. Latino pop culture, "Premios Tu Mundo" (Your World Awards) is an annual show that celebrates the best in novelas, music, fashion, movies and sports. Produced and broadcast live by Telemundo on Thursday, August 15 at 8pm/7c from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, the musical event combines the power of television, web, mobile and social media platforms to give fans the final say in what’s hot.
Last year’s premiere event garnered close to five million votes, and featured high energy performances and appearances by top Hispanic celebrities, including music artists Tito El Bambino, David Bisbal, Roberto Tapia, La Original Banda El Limon, Jencarlos Canela, Jesse & Joy, Gocho, Los Horoscopos de Durango, Chuy Lizarraga, Lupillo Rivera and Fonseca; TV personalities Ana Maria Polo, Maria Celeste Arraras and Penelope Menchaca; and novela stars Saul Lisazo, Marlene Favela, Sonya Smith, Jorge Luis Pila and Felicia Mercado. The awards show is preceded by the star-studded red carpet preshow La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo.
Nominees for the 20 categories of the 2013 Premios Tu Mundo are selected from May 2012 through May 2013 by a panel of industry professionals. Fans from all over the country then vote for their favorite TV shows, actors and actresses, movies, music, athletes, and stars online using a valid Facebook ID at www.PremiosTuMundo.com, and clicking on “Vota,” where each contestant is displayed by Category. Online Voting is open through 12PM ET, July 24th 2013 to anyone with a valid Facebook account in Puerto Rico and the 50 States including Washington DC, Hawaii and Alaska. Smartphone users can also vote at www.PremiosTuMundo.com by using a Facebook ID to cast votes. After July 24th, the four finalists from each category will be revealed, and the winner will be announced live during the Premios Tu Mundo awards show.
