OCTOBER 31, 2012 -- One day after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, NBC News presented a special hour of primetime coverage anchored by Brian Williams (Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 10pm/9 CT). NBC and Weather Channel correspondents spread throughout the impacted region reported on the record-breaking hybrid storm system that swamped neighborhoods, paralyzed the nation's biggest city, and left millions of families from the Carolinas to Ohio without power.
Ratings:
The NBC News special coverage averaged 8.288 million total viewers, +72% (+3,469,000) more than ABC’s 4.819 million (20/20 special: The Perfect Storm).
In A18-49, NBC averaged a 2.9 rating, outdelivering CBS’ 1.7 by +71% (+1.2 rating points) and ABC’s 1.3 by +123% (+1.6 points).
In A25-54, NBC averaged a 3.5 rating, +46% (+1.1 rating points) ahead of CBS and +106% (+1.8 points) ahead of ABC.
