TODAY’s Monday and Tuesday’s Broadcasts From Olympic Park in London Crush GMA
TODAY Posted Its Largest Demo Advantage Over GMA This Season

LONDON – August 1, 2012 - Based on Nielsen national fast program ratings for Monday, July 30 and Tuesday, July 31, NBC’s TODAY has scored ratings gold with both broadcasts live from Olympic Park in London. On Monday, TODAY averaged 5.9 million viewers - a whopping 1.5 million advantage over ABC’s GMA. TODAY was up 49 percent in total viewers v. last Monday, July 23. On Tuesday, TODAY averaged 5.7 million viewers, a 1.1 million advantage over GMA. TODAY was up 30 percent in total viewers v. last Tuesday, July 24.
Additionally, TODAY’s audience of 5.8 million viewers for both Monday and Tuesday represents more viewers than any of the broadcast networks averaged in primetime during the July Sweep.
MONDAY, JULY 30
Based on Nielsen national fast program ratings for Monday July 30, TODAY averaged 5.9 million viewers, a +1.5 million advantage over ABC.
This is TODAY’s second largest advantage over GMA this season (the largest was the day after the Super Bowl on Mon 2/6).
TODAY’s audience was 47% larger than on Monday July 16 (last officially rated Monday) and 49% over the affiliate time period data for last Monday July 23 (7-8:30am)
GMA’s audience declined by -4% compared to July 16 and -3% below the Monday (7/23) affiliate time period number.
In the key 25-54 demo, TODAY’s 2.553 million delivery was 902,000 above GMA’s-TODAY’s largest advantage this season.
TODAY improved on the last rated Monday’s delivery (7/16) by 63% (while GMA fell -2%). Compared to 7-830am fast affiliate time period numbers for July 23, TODAY was up +50% in this demo while GMA fell -3%.
TUESDAY, JULY 31
Based on Nielsen national fast program ratings for Tuesday, July 31, TODAY averaged 5.667 million viewers, +1.1 million (+24%) ahead of GMA
This is TODAY’s third largest advantage over GMA this season (behind Mon 2/6 after Super Bowl and Mon 7/30).
Compared to Tue 7/17 (last official nationals), TODAY’s total viewer audience was up +29% (+1.266 million); GMA’s audience is down -5% (-256k)
Compared to last Tuesday’s (7/24) 7-830am fast affiliate time period numbers, TODAY is up by +30% (+1,303,000) in total viewers.
In the key 25-54 demo, TODAY’s 2.281 million delivery (1.9 rating) was +543,000 above GMA (+5 tenths).
TODAY improved on the last rated Tuesday’s A25-54 delivery (Tue 7/17) by +26% (while GMA fell -7%)
Compared to last Tuesday’s (7/24) 7-830am fast affiliate time period numbers, TODAY is up by +37% (+616,000) in A25-54 (+5 tenths).
