Chris Cimino serves as the meteorologist for NewsChannel 4's morning show "Today in New York," and as the Saturday weather reporter for the NBC's "The Today Show."
A native New Yorker, Cimino joined NewsChannel 4 as weekend meteorologist in December 1995. He came to the station from WTXF-TV in Philadelphia where he was the weekend weather anchor for the late news. He was also the weekday weather anchor for morning and noon newscasts on WLWT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, OH, and held similar positions with WNEP-TV, Pennsylvania and WROC-TV, Rochester, NY.
Prior to that, Cimino was the senior broadcast meteorologist for the Metro Weather Service Inc., NY, forecasting and broadcasting weather reports to more than 25 radio stations nationwide.
In 2000, Chris was awarded the Townsend Harris Medal from the City College of New York. He is Honorary Chair for the Mid Jersey Chapter of M.S. Association. He participates in riding the 50-mile "Coast to Coast" bike tour in New Jersey. He has served as the media chairperson and works closely with the United Cerebral Palsy in Long Island hosting the Festival of Trees. He was honored with the organization's "Humanitarian of the Year Award" in 2001.
A recipient of the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval, Cimino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from the City College of New York.
He currently resides with his family in New Jersey.
