A Bay Area native, Vicky Nguyen returned home after reporting in Phoenix, Ariz., where she earned two Emmy nominations in the categories of Live Reporting and Spot News. She extensively covered the Baseline Killer and Serial Shooter investigations -- the first time two separate serial killers prowled the same city simultaneously.
Prior to her stay in the "dry heat" of Arizona, Nguyen reported in "the Biggest Little City in the World," Reno, Nevada. Nguyen began her career in the Sunshine State in Orlando where she managed to shoot, write, and edit her own stories before delivering her live reports.
Nguyen's favorite part of the job is meeting people from diverse backgrounds and having a chance to tell stories that make a difference. But her most memorable interviews are 'everyday' people who share their inspirational stories.
Nguyen grew up in San Jose and Santa Rosa after she and her family were sponsored to the U.S. from Vietnam. In fact, she received her citizenship in San Jose at the age of 10.
Nguyen graduated as valedictorian from the University of San Francisco where she majored in communications and minored in biology.
During her career, she has earned several journalism awards from the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) and the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).
When she's not reporting, Nguyen loves to travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with her husband and family, which include a miniature pinscher and a chihuahua.
